"Edmund Pettus Bridge"

"Edmund Pettus Bridge"
24 x 36 - Oil

What a view!  A friend and I had planned to meet for lunch at Grumbles Alley.  While I was waiting for her to arrive, I took a picture of the Edmund Pettus Bridge from the parking lot at Grumbles.  The picture was absolutely stunning.  The sky was perfect - the view amazing.  The photo stirred me on the inside and I could not wait to pick up a paint brush.   I enjoyed capturing the beauty of this view on canvas!  Thank you Side Porch Sandwiches for allowing me to have this displayed at the restaurant.

"The Perfect Getaway"

Acrylic - 16 x 20

I found an old painting that was tossed into a storage shed.   The painting had been weathered and was in really bad condition, but I thought it was beautiful.  Looking at it brought so much peace and serenity to me that it inspired me to paint a similar scenery.  I could not read the artist's name, but thought he/she did an amazing job.  How amazing would it be to be able to spend a weekend at this cabin!

"River's Edge"

Oils - 18 x 24

I live on the Alabama River and the view is simply amazing.  I am so blessed to be able to wake up to this type of view every morning.  As I was painting this, I decided to let the colors flow.  I started with aquamarine blue and before I realized it I had used every color you could imagine.  The way water refects color is mesmerizing.  It has such a soothing affect on the soul.

"The Secret Garden"

Oils 11 x 17

Doesn't it make you wonder what is behind the gate??  I can just imagine walking through the gate to a beautiful garden.  I made the area behind the gate dark to add to the mystery of what lies behind it.  This painting is a totally different style for me, but it inspired me to venture outside of my box.
